I COUNT MYSELF VERY LUCKY TO HAVE SEEN THE GREAT MEASTRO LIVE IN 1979 DOING 2 CONCERTS AT THE ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL AND THE ATMOSPHERE WAS EXACTLY THE SAME THE FEELING THAT YOU WERE IN THE PRESENCE OF A LEGEND,SADLY I DID NOT MAKE KARAJANS FINAL CONCERT IN LONDON,BUT I CERTAINLY HAVE THE CD.

Quite a story! It brought it all back to me. I had forgotten about the way the returned tickets fell and the fact that you had it all sorted by 10.00 am. It made me laugh to remember again that you and Matt were treated like vagrants! Heady days! It is hard to pin down what that intense feeling of nostalgia actually is but it is a poignant and powerful thing! And funnily enough, when I think of what was/is important about that day, it isn’t Karajan, or Schellenberger (whose name despite being a household one in our Wembley flat at least I had completely forgotten) it is you and Matt. What I would give to meet up again, all three of us, cross the bridge to the Southbank, see where you put your sleeping bags, have an old fashioned cheap London style coffee and discuss the pros and cons of the new arrivals in the corps de ballet! (Private joke there I’m afraid!) Much love and lets speak soon – have been meaning to ring for ages.
